These are the kind of appetizer that will make people think you have your life together way more than you actually do. Which is a gift, honestly. You pull this platter out and set it on the table and suddenly everyone is impressed and you haven't even done anything that hard. Fresh figs, salty crispy prosciutto, a whipped honey cashew cream that tastes like it came from a fancy restaurant, a little balsamic drizzle. It's a flavor situation. Sweet, salty, creamy, tangy, all on one platter. The best part? It's completely paleo, completely real food, and it comes together in about 30 minutes if your cashews are already soaked. No fake cheese. No grain-based crackers. No seed oil nonsense. Just whole ingredients doing what whole ingredients do. I make this when we have people over and I want to put something out that looks intentional without spending my whole afternoon in the kitchen. It also happens to be the kind of food that I feel good about putting in my body and my guests' bodies. Which matters to me. A lot.

## Nutritional Benefits

### Figs

- Rich in natural fiber to support healthy digestion and gut motility.
- Provide potassium and magnesium, two minerals most people are chronically low in.
- Contain natural antioxidants including polyphenols that help fight oxidative stress.
- Naturally sweet without any added sugar, so you get the sweetness hit without the blood sugar chaos of processed treats.

### Prosciutto

- A clean, minimally processed cured meat made from just pork and salt. No fillers, no nitrate cocktails.
- Good source of complete protein to help keep you satisfied.
- Provides B vitamins including B1 and B12, which support energy metabolism and nervous system function.
- The fat in prosciutto is primarily oleic acid, the same heart-friendly fat found in olive oil.

### Raw Cashews

- Packed with copper and manganese, which support immune function and bone health.
- Provide healthy monounsaturated fats that support cardiovascular health.
- A solid plant-based source of magnesium, a mineral critical for muscle function, sleep, and stress regulation.
- When blended after soaking, cashews create an incredibly creamy dairy-free base with no gums, no additives, and nothing weird.

### Raw Honey

- Contains trace enzymes, antioxidants, and antimicrobial compounds that pasteurized honey loses.
- A lower glycemic sweetener than refined sugar, especially when used in small amounts alongside fat and protein.
- Used here in modest amounts so you get the sweetness and complexity without overdoing it.

## FAQs

### Can I make any of this ahead of time?

Yes, and I actually recommend it. Make the cashew cream and the balsamic reduction the day before and refrigerate both. Pull the cashew cream out about 20 minutes before serving to soften slightly. The figs themselves are best roasted fresh and served warm, so wrap them ahead of time on the sheet pan and just pop them in the oven when you are ready.

### What if I can't find fresh figs?

Fresh figs are the move here, they caramelize beautifully and have a jammy texture when roasted. If they are truly not available, you can try this with medjool dates halved and pitted, or with thick slices of firm pear. The flavor will be different but the concept holds.

### My cashew cream came out grainy. What went wrong?

Two things fix this almost every time. First, make sure the cashews are fully soaked, at least 4 hours and up to overnight. Second, use a high-speed blender, not a food processor or a regular blender. A Vitamix or Blendtec gets you truly silky smooth. Blend longer than you think you need to.

### Is prosciutto Whole30 compliant?

Most prosciutto is just pork and salt, which is Whole30 compatible. However, always read the label because some brands sneak in sugar or other additives. Look for one with the shortest ingredient list possible.

### How many figs per person should I plan on?

As an appetizer, plan on 3 wrapped fig halves per person. That gives you a satisfying bite without spoiling anyone's appetite for the rest of the meal. If this is more of a grazing spread with other dishes, 2 per person works fine.

### Can I use turkey or bacon instead of prosciutto?

Thin-sliced turkey prosciutto works great as a lighter swap. Thin bacon also works, though the cook time may need a couple extra minutes since bacon needs more time to crisp than prosciutto. Prosciutto is the star of this dish though, so use it if you can.
