> This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
>
> **Psalm 118:24 (BSB)**

The coffee is hot. The light through the kitchen window is doing that thing it does, where it lands on the counter and makes everything look a little more like it matters. Nobody is asking anything of you yet. The day has barely cracked open.

That moment, right there, is already a gift. Not the big, dramatic kind we think we have to earn or wait for. Just a morning. Just a cup. Just a body that woke up and needed something warm. Psalm 118:24 doesn't say rejoice in the extraordinary day, or the day you finally get your act together. It says this day. The plain, ordinary, Tuesday-that-looks-like-every-other-Tuesday day.

We spend so much time eating on autopilot, rushing through meals to get back to whatever feels more important. But the table is actually one of the most honest places we have. It's where we show up as we are, hungry and human, and receive something. That's not nothing. That's a small act of dependence on a God who made our bodies to need real nourishment, and who built the rhythm of the shared meal right into how we live together.

Today doesn't have to be special for it to be worth showing up fully. The bread on your table, the people around it, the moment you pause before the first bite, all of it is already holy ground if you're willing to see it that way.

## At the table today: Set the Table for Today, Even If It's Just for You

At one meal today, take thirty seconds to actually set a place. A plate, a glass, maybe a cloth napkin if you have one. No grand gesture, just a small physical act that says this meal, this moment, this day matters. Sit down before you start eating. Look at what's in front of you for just a breath before you pick up your fork. That's the whole practice.

## A prayer

*Lord, thank You for this specific day, not the one I planned or the one I'm dreading, but this one, and help me meet it at the table with a little more presence and a lot more gratitude.*
