This Privacy Policy explains how That Paleo Chick, LLC ("That Paleo Chick," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you visit thatpaleochick.com (the "Site"), use the That Paleo Chick mobile application (the "App"), subscribe to our emails, purchase or use our services, or otherwise interact with us (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

That Paleo Chick, LLC is a Florida limited liability company. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. That Paleo Chick is the controller (and, where applicable, the "business") responsible for your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. Your name and email address when you create an account, subscribe to a newsletter, or contact us; the content of messages you send us; and any information you provide when you inquire about or purchase coaching, programs, or other services.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Site, we and our analytics and advertising partners automatically collect device and usage information, which may include your IP address, browser type and language, device type and operating system, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, approximate location derived from IP address, and the dates and times of your visits. This is collected through cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies (see Section 4).

Email engagement. When we send you email, our email provider may record whether you opened the message and whether you clicked links in it, so we can measure and improve our communications.

Payment information. We do not currently sell paid subscriptions on the Site. If and when we offer paid memberships or products, payments are processed by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe). We do not collect or store full payment card numbers ourselves; the processor handles that information under its own privacy policy.

App information. See Section 9 for how the App handles information, which differs from the Site.

Health and wellness information you log in the App. If you use the App's guided programs or daily check-in, you can record how you felt each day — for example ratings for digestion, energy, bloating, or sleep — along with symptoms you pick from a checklist, the meals and recipes you ate, and notes about food you ate off your plan. The App also derives information from those entries, such as which food groups appear in what you logged and whether particular food groups line up with how you rated your symptoms. We treat all of this as sensitive information. Logging it is optional, the App works without it, and we ask for your agreement before recording any of it.

Push notification identifiers. If you allow notifications, your device gives us an Apple-issued push token so we can send recipe updates and reminders. This is tied to your device rather than to an account, and it happens whether or not you are signed in. You can stop it at any time by turning off notifications for the App in iOS Settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate, maintain, and improve the Services and personalize your experience;
To create and manage your account and provide member features;
To send newsletters, updates, and, where permitted, marketing communications you can opt out of at any time;
To respond to your inquiries and provide coaching or other services you request;
To measure the performance of our content and advertising, including affiliate and advertising analytics;
To display advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted (see Section 5);
To detect, prevent, and address security incidents, fraud, and abuse; and
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and agreements.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and support advertising. The categories include:

Strictly necessary: required for core functions such as signing in to a member account.
Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and a self-hosted web-analytics tool help us understand traffic and how content performs.
Advertising / marketing: Google AdSense, the Pinterest Tag, and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel help measure and, where permitted, personalize advertising and measure conversions.

Where required by law, we display a cookie-consent banner (provided by CookieYes) that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies and change your choices at any time. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works. We aim to honor recognized browser-based opt-out signals, such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), where legally required.

5. Advertising and Your Choices

We display advertising through Google AdSense and use the Pinterest Tag and Meta Pixel for advertising measurement and audiences. These partners may use cookies and device identifiers to show you ads based on your activity across sites and apps over time. You can control personalized advertising here:

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows:

Service providers. Companies that host our Site and App, deliver our email, provide analytics, process payments (if applicable), and support advertising, including Google (Analytics and AdSense), Pinterest, Meta, our email-delivery provider, our self-hosted analytics infrastructure, and, where used, a payment processor. These providers act on our behalf under contract.
Affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link (for example, Amazon Associates links, including links routed through our affiliate link-tracking provider), the destination retailer and the tracking provider may receive information that the click came from us, so any resulting purchase is attributed to our account. We do not receive your payment details from these purchases.
Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is required by law, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of That Paleo Chick, our users, or others.
Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

"Sale" and "sharing" under state law. Some U.S. state privacy laws define "sale" and "sharing" (for cross-context behavioral advertising) broadly enough that the use of advertising cookies and pixels described above may be considered a "sale" or "sharing." You can opt out of this activity using the cookie banner, the advertising opt-outs in Section 5, and a recognized opt-out preference signal (GPC), or by contacting us.

Optional automated wording. If you separately agree to it, the App can use an automated language service (Anthropic's Claude) to phrase your results in plain English. Only a short summary of results the App has already calculated is sent — for example, that digestion averaged lower on days when dairy was logged. Your notes, the free text you write about meals, your name and your email address are not sent. If you do not agree, the App words your results itself and nothing is sent for this purpose.

Chatting with your coach

What is sent. The App includes an optional coach chat. If you separately agree to it, the questions you type are sent to the same automated language service (Anthropic’s Claude) to write the reply, along with the summary of calculated results described above and a structured summary of your recent check-ins: the dates, the symptoms you ticked, your ratings, and which food groups you ate. Your notes, the free text you write about meals, your name and your email address are still not sent.

What happens to your messages. Anthropic processes them in order to generate the reply and does not use them to train its models. We do not store your chat messages or the coach’s replies. We keep a count of how many messages you have sent in the current month, so that we can apply a fair use limit, and a count of how many times a safety message was shown. Neither of those records contains anything you wrote.

Before a message is sent. We check what you type for a small, specific set of phrases that suggest a medical emergency, a risk of disordered eating, or a clinical question that needs a qualified professional. When one is found, the message is not sent anywhere: you are shown a fixed message pointing you to appropriate help.

What the coach is not. The coach gives general wellness guidance. It will not tell you that you have a condition, it will not advise you on medication, pregnancy, feeding a child, or managing a diagnosed condition, and it has no calorie or weight targets. It is not for emergencies, and it is for people aged 18 and over. If you do not agree to the chat, it stays switched off and nothing you type is sent.

7. Your Privacy Rights

U.S. residents (including California). Depending on your state, you may have the right to: know or access the personal information we hold about you; request deletion; request correction; obtain a portable copy; and opt out of targeted advertising, "sales," "sharing," and certain profiling. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. California residents may also request information about the categories of personal information we collected and disclosed in the prior 12 months. You may submit a request at [email protected]; we will verify your request as required by law, and you may use an authorized agent where permitted.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland residents. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are: your consent (which you may withdraw); performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services; and compliance with legal obligations. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. You can request deletion of your account information at any time.

Wellness entries. Because the App's value comes from comparing entries over long periods, we keep your wellness entries until you delete them or ask us to close your account. Those entries are stored as a revision history rather than overwritten, so an earlier version of a day's entry can persist after you edit it. When you ask us to delete them, we remove the entry and all of its revisions.

9. The That Paleo Chick App

Our iOS App is designed to keep your information on your device. In its current version, the App does not require an account: if you do not sign in, your saved recipes, shopping lists, meal plans, and any wellness entries you record stay on your device, and if you do sign in, we also store a copy on our servers so your information is available on your other devices. The App retrieves recipe and article content from our public content API; ordinary network requests to load that content may expose your IP address to our hosting infrastructure, as with any internet request.

If you choose to sign in to a member account within the App, we process the email address you use to receive a secure sign-in link and to maintain your session. Affiliate "shop this recipe" links in the App route through the same affiliate tracking described in Section 6. The App does not use third-party advertising or analytics software-development kits. The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and Apple collects certain information under its own privacy policy; deleting the App removes the on-device data it stored.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. Data is encrypted in transit. Wellness entries synced from the App are held in a database that encrypts data at rest, is not reachable from the public internet, and is separate from the systems that run the website. Free-text notes in those entries receive an additional layer of encryption, and the entries are keyed to an internal identifier rather than to your email address. Access is limited to people who need it to operate the service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Consumer Health Data (Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut)

Some state laws — including the Washington My Health My Data Act and Nevada SB 370 — treat information that relates to your physical or mental health as a distinct category with its own rules. The wellness entries described in Sections 2 and 9 fall into that category. This section tells you how we handle them.

What we collect and why. We collect only the entries you choose to record, and we use them for one purpose: to show you your own history and the patterns within it inside the App.

We do not sell it. We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it with advertisers. The advertising and analytics partners described in Sections 4 and 5 operate on the website and never receive App wellness entries.

Your consent. We ask for your agreement before recording any wellness entry, we ask separately before using an automated system to help word your results, and we ask separately again before you use the coach chat, where the questions you type are sent. You can withdraw any of those agreements at any time in the App, or by emailing [email protected].

Your rights. You can ask us to confirm what wellness data we hold, get a copy of it, and delete it — including copies held by anyone we shared it with. Email [email protected]. We will respond within the time your state's law allows.

This is not medical care. The App is a wellness tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice, and nothing in it substitutes for a qualified professional.

12. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. International Users

We operate in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be reflected on this page. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
